There seems to be some confusion about the terms
"Organic Food" and "Authentic Food". Organic used to indicate real
food grown without chemicals or pesticides. Now "Organic" means it can be
genetically altered, sprayed with a gas to hasten ripening or improve shelf life, sprayed
with a "safe" percentage of chemicals, or dipped in so called "safe"
solution to lengthen shelf life.
We can no longer feel proud or confident calling ourselves "Organic". We do not
use pesticides or chemicals. We compost, pull weeds by hand, control pests without
chemicals, and harvest by hand only after we receive your order. Most of our vegetables
are grown with seeds we save ourselves every year that are not treated or altered in any
way. What seeds we do order are from reputable companies who also do not alter or treat
their product.
Thus the term "Authentic Food". Real honest food, picked and delivered fresh.
The vegetables are packed with nutrients and real taste because they are grown without
chemicals and picked just hours before you receive them. Our goal is to provide
"Authentic Food", fresh and at a reasonable price. The reasonable price is
possible by cutting out the middle men and dealing direct with you, our customers.
You get a very fresh tasty product without paying huge prices. You will notice on our
vegetable list that we approximate poundage. We do weigh those items sold by the pound but
because we do not have a scale approved by the "Board of Weights and Measures"
we indicate that you receive "about a pound". You will usually receive more than
a pound because we over weigh to make sure you receive a full amount.
Our chickens are free range hens who run with roosters. The eggs you buy are just laid,
washed and chilled until delivery. The sizes are mixed in the cartons as hens of different
ages lay different sizes.
